From flower bed to vegetable patch to orchard, all the needs of a town garden beautifully orchestrated and met.  At the foot of 4 enormous eucalyptus trees, exuberant flowerbeds consisting of perennials, old roses and a variety of shrubs compete with each other for the pleasure of your senses.

In front of the south facing deck, Mediterranean and Australian plants have naturalised a gorgeous gravel garden (agaves, cistus, agapanthus, grasses …)  Perennials and bushes chosen to flower non stop all year round grow in a generous layer of an interesting variety of mulches.

  • primroses and  hellebores for the winter months
  • Pigamons (Thalictrum), astrantia, cranesbills, euphorbias, penstemons and cat mint in summer

Outstanding plants

  • 4 huge eucalyptus trees(dalrympleana, coccifera et 2 gunnii)
  • 2 Betula jacquemontii, birches with superb white bark
  • one Malus ‘Coccinella’, crab apple
  • one Albizia julibrissin ‘Ombrella’, the silk flower which flowers pink in August

  • Open 2-3 and 16-17 June, 14-15 July, 9 September;   Saturdays from 14.00 to 18.30,   Sundays from 10.30 to 18.30.

Directions to the Jardin Chou

  • between the square found in « old » Tourlaville and the church, below the Caplains.  From Cherbourg take the Boulevard de l’Est in the direction of Tourlaville and at the last roundabout take the exit marked Tourlaville Place, along the Boulevard de la Manche, go straight over the  first lights  and then take the 2nd turning right.  Go straight over the crossroads, and the garden is number 269 in the Rue du 25 Juin 1944.
