Le Clos Saint-Gilles

By subtle juxtaposition of different scenes, the white avenue, the windswept garden, the bowl garden, the rose garden and the serpentine path where the mixed border unfolds, Joelle and Gilles de Champs have mapped out a stimulating ramble. .Bowers of clipped box, yew and privet as well as woven willow fences and borders give it rhythm.  The nearby presence of the Mont St Michel lends the garden focus as well as a deep sense of history, and influences the perspective of the house itself.

• Leaving Avranches on the A84, take the N175 towards Saint Malo, after 15km, at Brée, turn right on the D80 towards Beauvoir, then take the 2nd turning right, the D280 towards Ardevon.  After 2km the first farm on the left is Clos Saint-Gilles.
